Marker Text One of first homes in Wills Point. Built 1872 of materials hauled by ox wagons from ports of Jefferson and Shreveport. Woodhouse (1841-1928), whose English-born ancestors came to Virginia in 1637, served in 6th Texas Cavalry, C. S. A. In 1868 he married Sarah Elizabeth Nash. Owned and operated a mercantile business until age 80. Greek revival home remodeled in 1917 to add rooms. Still owned by descendants. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1965
